Jayke Orvis and the Broken Band hadn't played together since 2014. They reunited for a reunion show this year at the Westport Roots Festival. The anticipation through the night was building as it was getting closer to the time of their set. The crowd was filled with energy that felt like an explosion of fireworks when the music started. Every song was another explosion of excitement and energy. Their was visible joy on faces in the crowd and on the stage. This was a moment that will not soon be forgotten. The set was incredible. Hearing them play this night it was hard to believe that it had been three years since they last took the stage together, the way they played felt like no time had passed. May 26, 2017 at The Westport Saloon.
Sam BarnettI'd like to see an expansion of the spotlighting on marginalized/overlooked communities. Especially more non-English singing acts like Juana Molina and more POC acts like Blind Boy Paxton. Also I'd like to see Whiskey Shivers, Frank Fairfield, Della Mae.
